When it comes to dermal fillers, patients love Juvederm. The effect it has on aging skin is unparalleled, as it rejuvenates drooping, wrinkled skin. Here at Texas Laser and Aesthetics in Austin, TX, we offer Juvederm Voluma, a formula that restores facial harmony and gives patients gorgeous, youthful-looking skin.
What Are the Benefits of Juvederm Voluma?
This injectable boasts a range of benefits, which is why patients adore it. Not only can it fight signs of aging, filling out wrinkles, and lifting sagging skin, but it can rebalance uneven features. And it does so painlessly with just a few simple injections. These injections allow the product used to work from the inside out, targeting the proteins and cells under the skin. This means the results last longer and look better than any over-the-counter creams ever could.
Gone are folds, lines, and wrinkles around the face, as well as hollow cheeks or sagging jawlines. This treatment can even be used to add volume to lips. The results are natural and gorgeous and truly turn back the clock.
In the past, we’ve struggled to defy the effects of aging and have had to relinquish control over how we look. But with Juvederm Voluma, we can take back ownership of our bodies and faces and say goodbye to unwanted wrinkles. Patients are thrilled to better recognize the person looking back at them in the mirror.
What Is This Treatment?
Juvederm offers many fillers designed to treat different areas around the face. One of these is Voluma, which uniquely works to correct the lower part of the face. It does this by restoring volume to the cheeks and chin. Cheeks can become more full and supple, which in turn makes them look younger. It also contours and defines the areas around the cheeks, which helps create a more balanced and sculpted look. When used on the chin, it can sharpen jawlines, reduce the appearance of submental fullness, and lift skin sagging in that area.
It does this using hyaluronic acid, which occurs naturally in the body to refresh and restore the skin. As we age, our bodies’ production of hyaluronic acid slows, which causes the skin to lose volume. Areas hollow out, skin droops, and lines form. With these new signs of aging can come a loss of confidence and frustration at no longer having agency over how we look. But in this treatment, new hyaluronic acid is injected into these problematic areas, and volume is restored.
Where Can I Use This Treatment?
The Cheeks and Wrinkles
This particular Juvederm filler is tailored to treating the cheeks. It can fill out sunken areas that have developed, or smoothen wrinkles that are the result of volume loss. It also combats the lines that run from the nostrils toward the edges of your mouth known as nasolabial folds, as well as smile lines. The result is a lifted face with more pronounced cheeks.
The Chin and Jawline
Not only can a voluminous, refined chin give a person a gorgeous profile, but it often makes the face look younger and skin look tighter. When used on the chin and jawline, this treatment can enhance the area, giving patients a softer, lifted face shape.
What Is Treatment Like?
The first step is to come into our stunning Austin facility for a consultation. We’ll look at your medical history and talk through your goals to ensure this treatment is right for you. If we think it’s a good fit, we’ll get to work developing your treatment plan. This is where we’ll decide how many injections you’ll need, how much product to use, and where the injections should go.
Some patients are surprised to find that the areas bothering them are better treated when not injected directly, but are lifted when other areas of the face are treated instead. But our expert staff’s understanding of facial anatomy means they know exactly what will work to ensure your face ends up balanced and full. After that, we’ll schedule your appointment!
On the Day
We’ll ask that you come to your session with a make-up-free, clean face. We’ll still give your skin another clean before we start, just to make sure the surface is absolutely ready to be injected. We numb the treatment area using either lidocaine, which goes into your injection, or a topical numbing cream. That way you can stay relaxed and comfortable as we administer the injections.
The injections themselves are incredibly simple. We’ll follow your treatment plan, injecting product into the target areas around the middle of your face and your chin. The whole thing will take at most thirty minutes and then you’re all done. It’s such a short process that many patients slot it into their lunch break.
Patients love that this treatment requires no downtime afterward. Unlike surgery, which can require taking time off work and as long as ten days for everything to heal, patients can immediately return to work or carry on with their day however else.
That being said, we’ll give you some guidelines to take care of your skin. This will ensure you experience no discomfort and optimal results are achieved. These might include avoiding touching or rubbing the face, staying out of extreme sunlight or heat, and not doing any vigorous exercise for at least a day. We also advise patients to stay off blood-thinning medications. These are some general suggestions; we’ll give you specific advice before your treatment that’s tailored more to you and your lifestyle.
What Are the Results Like?
Patients find that their appearance has dramatically improved after their injection. Wrinkles in the mid-face area smooth out, the cheeks are filled, and the jawline becomes more pronounced whilst staying soft. Years are shaved off the face before their very eyes. Thanks to the talents of skilled injectors with years of training, gorgeous results look incredibly natural, offering a youthful glow that doesn’t make the face look “worked-on”.
How long it will take these results to develop will depend on the individual, where they were treated, how thick their skin tissue is, and how quickly their body metabolizes. Some people notice results in a few days, while others may take a week or two. Optimal results should become apparent at about the two-week mark.
Do the Results Last?
Dermal fillers, and in particular Juvederm, offer results that don’t just look fantastic, but last. In the case of this treatment, patients can enjoy the results around the chin lasting for roughly six months. When used on the cheeks, the results are proven to last for an unbelievable two years. No matter where you’re getting treated, these long-term results are a huge benefit of this treatment.
Will I Need To Come Back for More Sessions?
After their results start to fade, many of our patients were so happy with them that they schedule a “maintenance” session with us. This is just another short session where we re-inject the areas and achieve the same results. Sessions are so quick and easy that returning is never a hassle, even in the busiest schedules.
Why Has My Skin Lost Volume?
The most obvious reason for losing volume in the skin is aging. As we age, our bodies slow down at producing all the proteins and acids that keep the skin tight and perky. These are things like collagen, elastin, and the aforementioned hyaluronic acid. Without them, the skin starts to sag, losing texture and developing wrinkles. In particular, you’ll notice a telltale sign of aging is sunken, flat cheeks that droop down. That’s why rosy, apple-like cheeks are so associated with youth.
While some people might experience flatter cheeks as they age, others might have always had undefined cheeks. This is because genetics factor heavily into sagging or hollow cheeks. Unfortunately, that means that these cheeks can droop even further when the effects of aging kick in.
When the distribution of fat in your body changes, it can have an effect on your face. Even though you may expect that weight loss will mean a more sculpted face, it can actually make people look gaunt and create sunken areas. So whether you’ve just lost a couple of pounds or a more significant amount, if you’re noticing a more gaunt appearance, weight loss might be to blame.
But that doesn’t mean you have to put the weight back on to restore volume! This treatment is a great option for those looking to plump up the face without affecting their overall weight or the rest of their body.
Who Is a Good Candidate for Treatment?
Whether age, weight, or genetics are the culprit behind your skin’s loss of volume, if it’s something that’s frustrating you, you may be a candidate for this treatment. We understand that these concerns can affect people of any gender, age, and skin tone. So as long as you’re healthy and over twenty-one, we invite you to schedule a consultation with us. We’ll make sure that, based on both your medical history and your cosmetic goals, this treatment will be the best option for you. Because hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in the body, patients are unlikely to have an allergic reaction to the product.
Who Isn’t a Good Candidate for Treatment?
People who are pregnant, planning on falling pregnant, or nursing will not qualify for this treatment. Those with active skin infections also may not be eligible, especially if the infection is near the area needing treatment.
Some patients may find their wrinkles aren’t best treated with dermal fillers. For example, many people are concerned with dynamic wrinkles such as worry lines, crow’s feet, and frown lines. These wrinkles are often caused by repeated facial movements rather than sagging skin. They might be better counteracted with a treatment like Botox, which relaxes facial muscles so the skin on top of them smoothens. If this is the case for you, we’re thrilled to offer Botox here at Texas Laser and Aesthetics and can talk you through it in more detail.
